Reunions #RainbowSnippets
Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, readers, and bloggers to gather once a week to share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!).
In this group you'll find anything from romance and historical fiction to mystery and YA. The common thread is that every story's main character identifies as LGBTQ+. The snippets could range from zero flames to full-on sexytimes, anything goes content-wise. The only rule is snippets will be 6 sentences long–one for each color in the Pride flag.
I'm all over the place with writing this weekend. I have three WIPs on the go, and I'd planned to snip from something else entirely, but I couldn't find a section that worked.
I've opted instead for this little section of Reunions (Hiding Behind The Couch #7), where Kris and Ade are flying to Sweden to visit Kris's parents; Ade is meeting them for the first time. It's also his first time flying anywhere, and he's enraptured by everything about the experience. They're accompanied by Kris's second cousin, Eric.
Here's the snippet:

"I'm a poor example of my people." The grimace that accompanied Kris's first mouthful of the in-flight coffee confirmed it. "I mean, who ever heard of a Gothenburger with a shellfish allergy?"Reunions will hopefully be out around Christmastime. *types faster* You can also read about Kris and Ade in Crying in the Rain - a stand-alone bi/gay (M/M) romance.
A quiet, deep-toned chuckle came from across the aisle. "You like caviar, Ade?" Eric asked.
"The posh stuff?"
"Hardly!" Kris scoffed. "It comes in a squeezy tube. Like fish-egg toothpaste."
Ade mimed throwing up. "I don't have to eat that, do I?"
"Yep," Kris said, made a liar by Eric's simultaneous response of 'no'.

Ooh, by Christmas? :) :) :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with Ade...ew.
Fingers crossed. The story starts in late December, so I really need to get cracking!
DeleteAmusing snippet, I'm keen to read more of this :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked it. :)
DeleteLove the banter, but "fish egg toothpaste"? Ewwwwwwwww.
ReplyDeleteI tried a tiny bit of the squeezy tube fish roe - it was OK! Too salty for me, but not awful.
DeleteI like the banter here, and how happy they all seem. And that cover is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Amy. :) I'm glad you like it!
DeleteThe banter is great, and the cover is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Antonia. :)
